Have a great week.

Is there a link between Mercury and heart disease?
Heart disease is the number two killer in the US. The party line is that the cause of heart disease is due to an elevation in cholesterol. This has been such a successful marketing campaign that the highest selling drugs in the world are for the purpose of lowering of cholesterol. But, if this were the causative factor than why is it that over 50% of people with heart attacks do not have elevations in cholesterol?

Children and Environmental Toxins
Our children, like ourselves, are susceptible to environmental toxins. Perhaps even more so. Their bodies are smaller and they may accumulate relatively higher levels than us. It is also true that many of them have acquired toxic exposures from their mothers during gestation. Ironically, the mother's body may dump her accumulated toxins into her baby resulting in a significant load for the baby by the time they are born. This infant acquired toxin load may be one of the reasons why we are seeing an exponential rise in ADD/ADHD, childhood obesity, diabetes, depression, suicide, autism and childhood cancer. These toxins include pesticides, dioxins, PCBs, arsenic, mercury, maternal drugs, etc. They can injure the newly developing cells in the brain and other organs. This can contribute to learning and behavior difficulties, blood sugar problems, appetite disturbances and others.

These are compounds that are naturally in fruits and vegetables and give them their characteristic colors from yellows to blues to reds. Generally, the richer the color, the more flavonol the food contains.

Hyperactivity linked to what?
The label of hyperactivity is occurring in epidemic proportions in the US and abroad. Millions and millions of children are given this diagnosis and amphetamine type drugs are routinely used for "treatment." These drugs have been shown to be dangerous to the healthy physical and mental development of these children. There is no scientific rationale for their use.
