Greetings,
This week: What is fat anyway and how do you lose it? How Stonehenge was built; Is it better to eat egg whites or whole eggs? How BioBuilde helped a heart patient. How natural medicine can help children.
Have a great week.

Go Natural Not Pharmaceutical
A just released internal FDA memo discloses they were aware of the dangers of the diabetic drugs AVANDIA and ACTOS five years ago and took no action. Now there is a new study reported in the New England Journal of Medicine that in people using AVANDIA there is a 43% increase in heart attacks. Shouldn't the FDA have disclosed this to consumers five years ago and put a warning out about this data? Even now with this new study, the FDA has taken no action.

Could Lipoic Acid improve your health?
Lipoic acid has been touted to slow aging, remove heavy metals, improve circulation, and enhance immune function. It even diminishes wrinkles. Recent experimental evidence from the Linus Pauling Institute suggests that Lipoic acid does restore the level of the protective antioxidant and detoxification compound called glutathione to youthful levels. Lipoic Acid also has anti-inflammatory qualities. Most interestingly, animals supplemented with LA seem to have genes expressed that reflect younger behavior. When aged cells are given LA, they begin to communicate as if they were younger. This anti-aging effect also occurs within the energy manufacturing part of the cell called the mitochondria. Cells that can create more energy perform better and give the body a more youthful vigor.

Letter of Appreciation regarding Dr. George Springer
I am a 77 year old male now thankfully in excellent health. Two years ago, however, several health concerns led me to turn to Dr. Springer for help. Among these were: (1) seriously flagging energy levels that were negatively affecting my ability to work (I am a computer scientist still active in the field); (2) several recent episodes of atrial fibrillation which required hospitalization; and (3) a recent diagnostic of a precancerous prostate condition. Turning to alternative medicine was new for me but I was less than content with the help I had been receiving from medical doctors, and I had witnessed how Dr. Springer's care had much improved the health of several of my acquaintances. So I decided to give this a try.
To say the least I am very glad I did. Dr. Springer's astute diagnosis and subsequent treatment (chiefly homeopathic medicines and natural supplements) has led to greatly improved health and vigor.

Are the New Energy Saving Light Bulbs Worth Switching to?
Even though Al Gore and the EPA say you should do it, you might think twice before buying into the new energy saving light bulbs...
Many consumers wanting to save energy and do the right thing have begun to replace their old style incandescent light bulbs with the energy saving and money saving fluorescent varieties. One such consumer, BB, living in Maine went out and bought several dozen of them in her home. One of them broke. The mercury inside the bulb spilled everywhere, shag carpet included. Now more than a month later her child's bedroom remains quarantined off until she can afford to pay the hazardous materials company $2000 for the cleanup of mercury that was released when the bulb broke.

Some facts from the 1500's...
Most people got married in June because they took their yearly bath in May, and still smelled pretty good by June. However, they were starting to smell, so brides carried a bouquet of flowers to hide the body odor. Hence the custom today of carrying a bouquet when getting married.
Baths consisted of a big tub filled with hot water. The man of the house had the privilege of the nice clean water, then all the other sons and men, then the women and finally the children. Last of all the babies. By then the water was so dirty you could actually lose someone in it. Hence the saying, "Don't throw the baby out with the bath water."
