Dear Readers,
Hello! Atkins is all the rage. Subway has an Atkins wrap, at
Burger King you can get your hamburger without a bun served in a dish,
and I hear McDonald's has a new burger served in a lettuce wrap. Carnivores
rejoice! But...........eating a lot of meat may have its consequences
unless you are very careful about where it comes from because of mad
cow, hormones and antibiotics in the meat, and who knows what else?
And this week, there is a new story about high levels of arsenic in
chickens. And, already reported is fish contaminated with PCBS and mercury.
What is one to do? -

The New Medical Model For Health
By in large, most doctors, once they leave medical school get much of their
continuing education either directly from pharmaceutical companies, or from
journal studies that are funded by them. Too many times this results in the
usual modern day practice of medicine: patient has a symptom- a diagnosis is
made- a drug is prescribed. More often than not, the drug will give new symptoms,
which then will cause a new diagnosis and then a new drug. How many people are
taking a second medication to combat the symptoms that the first one is causing?
This can lead to a downward spiral of iatrogenic (doctor caused) illness.

Combo of Vitamin C and Vitamin E Reduce Alzheimers by 75%!
This study is huge!! There is no drug that comes anywhere close to
this. Alzheimers disease is another non-disease. It's a toxic brain
condition. The usual suspects of chemicals, pesticides, viruses, and
heavy metals gang up on the neurons and kill them off. The mechanism
is oxidative stress. Antioxidants like Vitamin C and E protect the
brain (and heart and liver and, and, and.... )- D.I. Minkoff, MD read

Poor diet, T.V., lack of moral standards
This next article isn't really medical but it indicates the
depths to which a society can fall when poor diet, T.V., lack of moral
standards, drugs and psychiatry take over education. For me this was
an eye opener. You too? - D.I. Minkoff, MD read

Arsenic in our chicken?
In our clinic we screen a lot of people for heavy metals when they come in
with fatigue, high blood pressure, heart disease, chronic pain, high cholesterol,
and sleep problems, to name a few. Nearly all show very high levels of heavy
metals like arsenic, mercury, lead, and cadmium on the challenge tests. Where
is it coming from? Chicken?

Heavy-Metal Detoxification
It is very challenging to make the assessment of metal toxicity.
There is such an array of symptoms and conditions that are attributed
to heavy metal toxicity that it can be confusing both to the patient
and the practitioner.
Many people who are heavy metal toxic have an array of symptoms. For
a closer look at this see the Heavy Metal Symptom Questionnaire of common
complaints. If you have more than 7 items checked off this list, chances
are you could be heavy metal toxic and should be seen by a competent
doctor and evaluated for this. learn
