The Doctor as "God"
Sometimes unknowingly, a doctor can play "God" and be cruel. He will see
a patient with a group of symptoms, and "diagnose" such and
such disease. In the same breath, the doctor will tell him that he
will have this disease for the rest of his life. The patient, trusting
him as the higher authority, then goes around affirming he is a victim
of this disease over and over in his own mind and to everyone who asks. He
keeps reinforcing to himself the idea that he has something he can't get rid
of. In no time he believes it. - D.I. Minkoff, MD read

Study: Deodorant link to breast cancer?
Breast cancer rates have been increasing over the last fifty years. Many factors
have been implicated, including many of the chemicals in the environment that
act like estrogens in the body and promote breast tissue growth. Bras have also
been suspect as they may block lymph flow out of the breast and cause toxins
to accumulate. This article is noteworthy as chemicals found in deodorants were
found in breast cancer tissue. Does this mean that deodorants cause breast cancer?

Food for thought?!
This week I ran across some articles on food additives and food substitutes.
It got me thinking about the word "food." I realized I didn't have a good definition
of it. So I looked in Webster's: "food (fÁd), n. 1. any nourishing substance that is eaten, drunk, or otherwise taken
into the body to sustain life, provide energy, promote growth, etc."
Is sucralose (Splenda) food? Is Aspartame (Nutrisweet) food? Is MSG
food?
Not according to this definition. If they are not food, then they
don't sustain life, provide energy, or promote growth. We could call
them "anti-food." - D.I. Minkoff, MD read

Farmed and Dangerous
Farmed salmon have up to 10 times more PCBs and dioxins than wild salmon. People
who eat between 1 and 3 servings of farmed salmon per week are exposed to an
amount of contaminants which exceeds the safety level set by the World Health
Organization. - D.I. Minkoff, MD read

Jack LaLanne
A real hero and example of health, Jack Lalanne at age 89 is still hitting the
gym. See if he doesn't inspire you too. His motto about food is: "If man makes
it don't eat it." . - D.I. Minkoff, MD read
