One in Five Seniors Prescribed Wrong Drugs
A new study found that one in five seniors was prescribed risky, inappropriate drugs by his or her doctor. Because individuals over 65 have weaker kidneys and do not metabolize drugs as well as when they were younger, they are not allowed to take any prescription drugs listed on the "Beers List," but are instead to use safer, alternative drugs. read more ...»
"I could finally hear people on the phone!"
At the age of twelve, when I failed my third hearing test in a row, my mother was called in. After testing it was found that I had a significant hearing loss in my right ear, which was determined to have been impaired since birth. Recently, just a few months before my twentieth birthday, my left ear had also begun to lose its effective hearing, and I had to get hearing aids for both ears. Anti-Depressant Drugs May Double Child Suicide
A report suppressed by the FDA leaked into the public press last week, concluding that children on anti-depressant drugs were twice as likely to be suicidal than those on placebos. Dr. Mosholder, a government expert with the FDA's Office of Drugs Safety and author of the report, reviewed 22 studies and over 4,000 children to make his conclusion. Mosholder desired to make public the findings, but the FDA prohibited him from doing so, claiming his analysis was "premature." read
