Are you cooking with Teflon lined pots and pans?

Recently DuPont agreed to pay more than $100 million to settle a lawsuit that its factory near Parkersburg, W.Va., had polluted local drinking water, with a chemical called perfluorooctanoic acid, (PFOA). This chemical is used in processing Teflon. The EPA has declared that this ingredient, was a "likely carcinogen," or cancer-causing agent.

Another example illustrating our toxic environment. There is no policing agency in our country with the resources or clout to really protect us from such influences before they occur. Ideally, BEFORE any of these chemicals were used for consumer products and dumped into the environment they should have been tested and discarded more safely. Often, we don’t find out that these toxins are around us until they have been contaminating the environment for many years.

What can we do? Minimally:
1. Eat organic.
2. Drink purified water.
3. Put filters on your bath and shower water outlets.
4. Do the New York Detox program (www.nydetox.org) to clean up the toxins you already have.
5. Use glass, corning, or high quality stainless steel to cook with and avoid Teflon.
6. Avoid plastics for storage.
7. Take Body Detox before bed every night to help your body rid itself of chemicals, heavy metals and pesticides. See www.bodyhealth.com for more information.
