Heart attacks, hallucinations, convulsions and more

Would you believe that a class of medications routinely prescribed to young children that caused some of them to have strokes, heart attacks, hallucinations, convulsions, growth retardation, brain shrinkage, Tourette's Syndrome, depression, suicide, and sudden death, would be legal?

And even if by some serious lobbying efforts these medicines were legal, don't you think that the FDA would mandate a black box warning around it to alert doctors and parents of its harsh dangers?

Would you believe that groups of certain pediatricians and psychiatrists would rally against this black box warning for “fear of scaring parents” who might then not want to have their children put on these medications?

According to a published report in The Australian:

"... almost 400 serious adverse reactions to Ritalin and like drugs have been reported to the Therapeutic Goods Administration, some involving children as young as three.

Cases include the sudden death of a seven-year-old, and a five-year-old who suffered a stroke after taking Ritalin. Children also experienced heart palpitations and shortness of breath after taking Dexamphetamine.

Others taking Ritalin or Dexamphetamine - the two most commonly used ADHD drugs - experienced hair loss, muscle spasms, severe abdominal pain, tremors, insomnia, severe weight loss, depression and paranoia. "

The numbers are much higher in the U.S.

In 1990 it is estimated that 1 million children were put on these drugs. Today it is estimated that there are more than 6 million on them. This is 1 in 8 children!

For shame!

Many children respond to simple remedies like:

  1. Increasing exercise.
  2. Limiting intake of sugar, artificial sweeteners, colorants, fast food and caffeine.
  3. Limiting video games and TV to 1-2 hours per week.
  4. Making sure that the child's friends and teachers are not putting him down or demeaning him. He should be in a loving environment.
  5. Having him seen by a competent nutritionally oriented health practitioner who has an effective record of treating children with natural remedies by making the right diagnosis of what is wrong with him by proper diagnostic testing and handling allergies.
