Parkinson’s Disease as a consequence of Pesticide Poisoning?
Imagine a 40 year old farmer in the fields of Central California. Plowing crops day after day. Riding his tractor. He first noted difficulty in directing his fingers and then gradually a very fine tremor. His family noticed a slight head nod that was worse when he was tired or upset. Unbeknownst to him hundreds of thousands of brain cells were dying. In time his face would look wooden and he would have difficulty walking and the pill rolling tremor would be uncontrollable. Medication would initially help with symptoms, but in reality would accelerate his condition. By 55 years old he would have trouble even taking care of himself.
Isolated case?
Increasing scientific evidence is mounting to show that long term exposure to toxic chemicals, especially pesticides, can kill neurons and cause these symptoms.
In Parkinson’s disease occurs when a small area at the base of the brain, called the substantia nigra, has lost more than 2/3 of its 500,000 neurons. These cells produce dopamine and other neurotransmitters that control movement.
There are at least 40 studies in human patients that show a connection between pesticide exposure and Parkinson’s.
Other factors such as trauma (like in boxer Muhammad Ali) and chronic viral infections of the brain as well as heavy metals and PCBs, can also be part of the toxic mix. Genetic factors also play a role.
In the U.S. more than a billion pounds of pesticides are used annually. Nearly all of us have measurable levels in our tissues. Those with higher exposure, and nutritional or genetic weakness in detoxification are most susceptible. Those with burdens of prescription medication, heavy metals and other chemicals will also have earlier onset of disease.
Can one take precautions against this?
Yes
1. Eat organic produce.
2. Eat free range meats that are hormone and antibiotic free.
3. Do the Detox Program found at www.nydetox.org for a good body cleanout.
4. Make sure you have at least one bowel movement per day.
5. Take BioBuilde to ensure adequate protein so the body’ s detox system can work properly.
6. Take BodyHealth Complete + Detox to support detoxification of chemicals.
7. Take Body Detox to help remove incoming heavy metals, chemicals and improve immune balance.
