Natural Bio-Identical Hormones

A friend of mine is in her mid forties. Six months ago she began having trouble with sleep, and had some days of feeling anxious and depressed. She saw her gynecologist, who after a thorough exam, told her she was fine. When she inquired if these could be menopausal symptoms, the GYN said "No, you are still getting your periods so this was not yet menopause." But her situation did not change and she re-contacted her doctor who then referred her to a psychiatrist for "help." The psychiatrist wasn't "the talking type" as "the new psychiatry is all biochemistry."

He prescribed a drug for sleep and a drug for depression and anxiety. One month later on medication, still no sleep, more anxiety, difficulty working (from no sleep). A second drug was added for sleep. She called me for advice.

Now I've known this young lady for a long time. She's very intelligent, a good parent, and very stable. She needed a diagnosis. In a woman her age, who can't sleep, and is having mood changes the first 5 things on the list are all the same: she's premenopausal!

It's the hormones.

We ordered a 24 hour urine test for hormones and guess what we found?

Estrogen levels extremely low, testosterone extremely low, hydrocortisone low, DHEA low,

No wonder she can't sleep, feels "anxious and crazy for no reason" etc.

She's not crazy, she just needed a doctor to listen to her and find out what is wrong and not give her drugs that she does not need and will only make her worse. She actually went to the doctor and told him that she thought she was premenopausal! And she was given drugs for sleep and depression? Pure idiocy!

With some corrections in her diet, and some natural bio-identical hormones to get the deficiencies corrected, she will be feeling sane and healthy in no time.

I can't understand how doctors can sleep at night when they are too lazy to crawl out from under the drug company's cozy cocoon and see the light of real scientific medicine.

It's enough to make one laugh at the situation, if it wasn't for the real harm that is done to innocent patients looking for real help.
