Can Vitamin E Restore Lost Hearing?
What happens if you wake up one day and find you suddenly can't hear out of one your ears? Doctors call this unexplained hearing loss "idiopathic," meaning its cause is unknown. Approximately 123,000 people in the UK experience it. But rather than going out and getting fitted for a hearing aid, drive instead to your nearest supplement store and pick up some Vitamin E.
Why? A new study found that Vitamin E helps people recover from idiopathic hearing loss. The BBC News reported that in the study, of 66 people with sudden hearing loss, half were given 400 mg of Vitamin E twice a day.
Although two-thirds of the time people with idiopathic hearing loss generally recover without treatment, when they were ready to be discharged, those who took Vitamin E recovered better. Some researchers point to Vitamin E's antioxidant power as the component responsible.
MY COMMENTS:
As usual, this is another disease that’s not one. It’s a nutritional deficiency. Vitamin E is vital to many organ systems.
