Why is flax a good food?

  1. It helps protect against breast cancer.

  2. It’s the richest plant source of Omega 3 fatty acids.

  3. Omega 3 fats lower the risk of breast cancer by reducing inflammation and decrease the rate of breast cell division when stimulated by estrogen.

  4. By reducing inflammation other conditions that are caused by inflammation such as cardiovascular disease, and auto immune diseases are reduced.

  5. Flax contains lignans. Lignans are substances found in a variety of plant that are antioxidants and phytoestrogens. Lignans have anticancer properties.

  6. The lignan concentration in flax is many times more than in any other vegetable or fruit. Lignans block estrogen from affecting the breast, and change the structure of the cell membranes in breast tissue that make it better resist chemicals that cause breast cancer.

  7. Lignans block estrogen production in fat cells by blocking the aromatase enzyme. Aromatase enzymes convert testosterone to estrogen.

  8. Women who have the highest intake of lignans (as measured by the levels in their urine) have the lowest risk of breast cancer.

  9. Flax is high in fiber.

  10. How to eat flax seeds? Grind them up and put them in foods, smoothies, or on cereal to the tune of 2-3 tablespoons per day.
