Do Drugs Work?
Allen Roses, worldwide vice-president of genetics at GlaxoSmithKline
(GSK), said "fewer than half of the patients prescribed some of
the most expensive drugs actually derived any benefit from them. " Not
only that, but many of the people on those drugs get something worse:
negative reactions. The ratio of help to harm is in the wrong direction.

There are a couple of facts that one should keep in mind
on this issue:
1. Drugs are usually given to fix a symptom. That might
be a headache or high cholesterol or high blood pressure. The
symptom has a cause. To really help someone, that cause must be
found. Usually the drug doesn't fix the cause, but it will give
one new
side effect symptoms that it (the drug) causes. Naturally, to
get rid of drug related symptoms one can stop that drug. But the
original symptom hasn't been handled. A good doctor will look for and
find the original cause and a solution for it. Then you will be without
the symptom.
2. In emergencies drugs may be helpful. Most medical problems aren't
emergencies. High blood pressure, high cholesterol, heart disease,
cancer, arthritis, stroke. In these situations drugs are not usually
helpful. By helpful, I mean, really good for you in the long run to
heal what ails you.
3. The worldwide sales of drugs is in the neighborhood of $160,000,000,000
per year. Based on the above quote, most of that is wasted. The
drugs simply don't work. The cost of drug related side effects may
approach even higher costs than the sales of the drugs originally.
So now we have 2x the problem = $320,000,000,000! We spent the
money on something that didn't work and now we have to spend
the money again to fix what we shouldn't have done in the first
place! http://www.forces.org/evidence/pharma/bigpharma.htm
4. Just last week, our Congress authorized a new Medicare drug
benefit bill which provides another $400,000,000,000 over ten
years to buy more drugs! This will magnify the problem to proportions
that no one can even imagine! Hardly a worthwhile benefit.
5. Four simple things go a long way toward health:
a. 80% of the time eat organic, pesticide free, GMO free (genetically
modified organisms), hormone
free, foods and avoid sugar so you can keep your waistline trim
and your energy high.
b. Exercise an hour a day doing something that is fun and if
possible outside in the fresh air and sunshine.
c. Get enough sleep so that you feel well rested in the
morning and can enjoy your day.
d. Every day help as many people as you can.
Oh, and one more thing: pick up a little booklet called
The Way to Happiness from www.thewaytohappiness.org .
Its the handbook for being happy. Happy people are healthy and don't
need drugs.
