Computed Tomographic Virtual Colonoscopy to Screen for Colorectal Neoplasia (Tumors)

According to the New England Journal of Medicine Article, a CT scan of the colon is almost as good as colonoscopy for detecting colon cancer.

I like this concept. Colon cancer is a bad disease. Early detection and surgery can be curative.

Our colons are designed for handling a host of highly reactive chemical reactions.
Back in the trillenia (many many years), when the food was real, and the water not contaminated by the 500 things that shouldn't be there, and the diet was high fiber, and people were not taking prevacid, prilosec, zantac, etc., and had normal amounts of hydrochloric acid in their stomachs to kill parasites and other unwelcome bacteria (that may be in our food or underneath our fingernails) the colon could do its job, and colon cancer was rare. Nowadays, the colon is subjected to a maelstrom of noxious substances and infectious agents and its poor cells give up hope of surviving there and through toxicity go cancerous at a rate never before seen. So it behooves us to "look" into the area and make sure all is ok. Colonoscopy is not that pleasant and for most people requires an IV sedative. And there is a small risk of the colonoscope puncturing the colon wall which becomes a serious complication. This article shows that doing a virtual colonoscopy by CT scan one can have 88% certainty of diagnosis. Then if something is found a colonoscopy can be done. Since the vast majority of colonoscopies are negative, this invasive procedure could be avoided.  With CT scans there is a radiation exposure, but if you protect yourself by taking the following cocktail beginning the day before, the day of, and the day after your CT scan, you can help to protect your DNA from damage. This is not medical advice, as I am not your physician. But these substances have been helpful in protecting cells from radiation injury.

This should be dosed four times a day.

1. 500mg Beta Glucan
2. Vitamin C 1-2 grams
3. OPC 100 mg
4. B complex 50
5. Vitamin E 400iu
6. Glutathione 500 mg
7. Vitamin A 5000iu
8. Green or black tea during the day 3 cups total day of and day after.
9. Miso soup with kelp, one cup after the testing.

So If you are a worrier about what could be lurking inside of you, are a smoker, are over 50 years old, have eaten poorly for most of your life, have a family history of colon cancer, or are just prevention minded, I'm for doing it.  - D.I. Minkoff, MD
