CoQ10 is a necessary co factor in the production of energy in the body. It is found in nearly all body cells and its lack has been associated with fatigue, heart failure, and Parkinson's Disease.

In a recent study (double blinded, placebo controlled, and crossover) 17 healthy volunteers supplemented with CoQ10 had significantly reduced subjective feelings of fatigue and improved physical performance when taking 300 mg per day.
This is significant and suggests that many people would benefit from using this supplement. Blood levels of COQ10 can be measured if anyone is in doubt about their status. Anyone taking the class of drugs called Statins for high cholesterol should be taking CoQ10 (in coordination with their doctors advice) because the active ingredient in statins blocks the body's ability to make this enzyme. Lowered levels of CoQ10 while on the drug may cause fatigue and muscle soreness that could be relieved by taking the supplement.
