Children at Risk Did you know that over 60% of foster children in Texas, 66% in Massachusetts, and 55% in Florida and are being given psychiatric drugs? And that the federal government wants to screen infants to see if they need them too and all at taxpayer expense? How did this begin? In 1996, in the Texas Department of State Health Services implemented the Texas Medication Algorithm Project. This project was a cookie cutter approach toward psychiatric disorders like schizophrenia, bipolars and depression. This meant that for each diagnosis a new expensive unproven drug should be given according to a predetermined chart. Truth be told, this was not based on any scientific evidence, but bought opinion by interested parties. In fact there is no evidence that any of the recommended drug treatments are effective. But we do know that they are all dangerous. To top it off, the guidelines were formulated by a consensus panel convened by the pharmaceutical companies that sponsored the TMAP! Are you ready to scream yet? Wait…. As part of the No Child Left Behind Act, at the last minute, a little benefit to pharmaceutical companies was slipped in. It allowed for federal grants to be given to states for children with “behavioral problems” or if one of the child’s parents has depression or another mental illness. The grants actually subsidize the drugging and labeling of young children with dangerous medications that have never been studied in children for safety and have never been proven to be effective. A very good summary of what is going on was written by Michael Ostrolenk, a public policy consultant who founded the Medical Privacy Coalition: “Their influence [of the mental health establishment over government] causes our children to be labeled in infancy, and it creates a never-ending market for psychiatric drugs. The long term effects of these drugs on the brains of our children are unknown. They also create a market for other drugs used to treat the chronic side effects like obesity and diabetes, and they will be needed throughout the lives of those affected, enhancing drug company profits while bankrupting taxpayer funded programs. As these programs multiply, the use of politically motivated labeling and drugging for children who do not comply with the indoctrination of the federal curriculum will increase. Brave New World will appear less and less like fiction unless these programs are stopped.” This is a formula for the destruction of our civilization. Our government is subsidizing the labeling and drugging of innocent children by medications that are unproven and damaging.
