Think your child is safe in school? Think again. The government has plans you may not agree with.
A new federal initiative has just been launched, proposing "mental health screening" of every man, woman, and child in America. It's prompted by a March 2004 report by The New Freedom Commission on Mental Health, which was appointed to advise the President on ways to improve the U.S. mental health system.
In the universal child screening mandated by the initiative, some of the mental disorders psychologists will be classifying children into include "Mathematical Disorder," "Written Expression Disorder," "Non-Compliance With Treatment Disorder," "Phase of Life Problem," "Caffeine-related Disorder," and "Conduct/Behavior Disorder." For behaviors that do not meet criteria for any specific disorder in the Classification, the disorders would be classified as "Disorder of Infancy, Childhood, or Adolescents, Not Otherwise Specified." More often than not, the treatments for these "disorders" will be prescription drugs.
In my view, it is this drugging - without any scientific validity - of millions of children and adults for "mental disorders" that constitutes the real crisis in mental health. The "New Freedom Commission" does not identify any improvements. They simply recommended massive increases in existing mental health "treatment."
Many psychiatric drugs are actually under federal investigation for causing suicidal reactions, and the proposed nationwide screenings of every person will inevitably lead to more mandatory drugging.
Who will decide if your child gets medication? Not you!
The commission's constituency indicates what the real purpose is. Of the commission's 22 members:
- Thirteen are either now on or have been on mental health boards or associations which set mental health policy at the state or federal level
- Eleven were associated with the implementation of similar agendas in their states
- Four are psychiatrists
- Three are psychologists.
This new plan has only one purpose, and it's not the improved mental health of people in the U.S. It is simply to extend psychiatry's influence further into our homes, schools, and religious institutions and to mandate billions of dollars more for psychiatric drugs.
The Commission is going to use the definitions of "mental illness" based on The American Psychiatric Association's billing bible, the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM ).
Unbeknownst to many, this book is not a scientifically based document. There is no underlying research that proves any of it is true. In fact, it is simply a list of behaviors literally voted into existence by a show of members' hands at each annual meeting.
The tests for mental illness are 100% subjective questions. Such questions include: "Complains of aches and pains? Has trouble with teacher? Daydreams too much? Refuses to share?" The responses lead to classifications of disorders mentioned earlier - and then drug treatment.
This is so blatantly unscientific that I can't believe the President or Congress or the Surgeon General would swallow it. But they did.
These diagnoses do not include ANY OBJECTIVE TEST. No brain scan, no biopsy, no blood test - to determine any DSM disorder.
Can you believe that more than eight million U.S. children are already on psych drugs for such fraudulent "disorders"? This government program intends to increase this many times over.
The first target of this program is, of all people, our children. They are starting with 52 million school kids in addition to 6 million adults who work in schools. You can be certain that millions more Americans will be diagnosed and drugged and inevitably injured by this program.
Do we want our seniors, our children, and young women (these are the target populations of the psychiatric and drug industries) on more drugs at the whim of subjective, non-standardized, inappropriate, and non-scientific protocols?
I don't!
If you agree with me, we must let our senators and congressman know that we disagree with these measures.
Please contact your representatives today and tell them that you are opposed to the New Freedom Commission on Mental Health being implemented in public schools. When enough of us act, they will put this money toward improved teacher benefits and better school facilities. This is where the money is needed, not in psychiatric drugs.
