Are you Aluminum toxic?

While aluminum is the third most abundant element in the earth's crust, at 8%, (oxygen is first, at 47%, and silicon is second, at 28%). Aluminum is only found in nature combined with oxygen. Aluminum is a tissue poison and neurotoxin and tends to accumulate in the brain and bones. Aluminum is not known to be part of any biochemical process in the body. It is less toxic than mercury, arsenic, lead or cadmium, and so it tends to manifest itself much more slowly in the body as toxic. The most prominent symptoms of aluminum poisoning are decreased intellectual function, memory loss, loss of concentration, and in extreme cases dementia and Alzheimer's.

It can also cause bone softening, osteoporosis, kidney disease and heart disease.

Common sources of "avoidable" aluminum:
1) cooking in aluminum pans, teflon pans and aluminum foil-wrapped foods;
2) liquids in aluminum cans
3) baking powder;
4) antiperspirants;
5 ) commercial teas;
6) toothpaste, sunscreen, lotions, powders/talcs and cosmetics;
7) infant formulas - soy formulas contain 10 times more aluminum than milk based formulas;
8) anti-acids, buffered aspirin and many other over-the-counter medications;
9) industrial/work related-welding and smelting
10) vaccines
11) Consumer drugs

A toxic byproduct of aluminum is sodium fluoride which is added to many public water supplies.

Aluminum may be linked to autism in that diagnostic tests on some autistic children have very high aluminum levels. The amount of aluminum injected into infants is also significant when the total combined vaccine load is calculated These vaccine risks combined with the in utero, dietary accumulations, air from outside, and baby products such as baby powder put infants at risk.

It is my opinion that aluminum should be avoided in any form as much as possible.

Most of the common chelators like EDTA and DMPS or DMSA do not remove aluminum from the body. Uniquely, Metal-Free has ingredients that have been shown to help remove aluminum from the body.

We suggest that if a hair analysis shows high levels of aluminum that Metal Free can be used until the levels are down to normal. This combined with avoiding sources of aluminum as much as possible can help to reduce the total body burden. For more information on Metal Free go to BodyHealth.com/html/metalfree.
