Questions to Get Closer to People With

In other cultures, parents and grandparents and older relatives are admired and even revered. In the US, for many, they are not. Is it because of the fast lifestyle, the stresses of being too busy, or having too many person problems to even think about someone else?
I had a very good relationship with my own parents, but they died way too young, and I wish they were here today. If they were, here is what I would ask them…….

1. Can you tell me your favorite story about your parents or grandparents?

2. Can you tell me a story about when you were a child when you were really scared? And when you were really happy? And when you laughed very hard?

3. Can you tell me a story about me as a child?

4. What is most important thing you have learned in your life so far?

5. What have you done in your life that you are the most proud of?

6. What decision in your life would change if you could have a do over?

7. What person in your life has had the most impact on you?

8. If you could do anything in your life right now, what would it be?

As I think about it, these are questions that one could ask any friend, or one’s spouse, and anyone that one wanted to be closer with. It could take many hours to get through the list. If any of you are inspired to try it, I would love to hear your experiences with it. Please write me at drminkoff@bodyhealth.com. I will be happy to share them with others.
