EPA’s most recent update to its toxic chemicals report (February, 2004) describes national trends for the amounts of certain highly toxic chemicals that EPA calls Priority Chemicals (PCs). These chemicals are found in industrial hazardous wastes that cause serious harm to humans and ecological systems if released to the environment. The report shows that in 2001, over 40 million pounds of organic Priority Chemicals were generated by companies reporting to the EPA’s Toxics Release Inventory. For the period 1998-2001, approximately 30 million pounds per year of mercury, lead, and cadmium were estimated to be contained in hazardous wastes. Any doubt that daily detox should be a priority for anyone interested in good health? I suggest:
