If You Have Blocked Heart Arteries, what should you do?

A recent study says that people with diabetes and heart disease (who have symptoms of angina or chest pain) have the same chance of dying of a major heart attack, whether they undergo surgical procedures (bypass or stents) or just take medication to treat their cholesterol, blood pressure and diabetes. ( BARI 2D study, New England Journal of Medicine. June 10, 2009). Nearly a million people a year in the US have angioplasty or bypass surgery. If the out comes are no better with invasive, expensive and risky procedures, how can this be justified? I’ll leave that answer to you .

But, in my opinion, there is a nutritional alternative that is better than both of these. Diabetes is a lifestyle disease and blood sugar can be normalized in nearly all diabetics by diet alone. Put anyone on a desert island for a week or two with the right diet to meet their daily requirements and their blood sugars will normalize without the need for medication. If you have diabetes you are at high risk for having a heart attack. In fact, 80% of diabetics will die of heart disease. Almost 1/3 of Americans are either diabetic or will be com e so. It’s eating too much of the wrong foods, and lack of exercise. For most, this will work. It’s a lifestyle disease in the main, and not genetics.

To solve it?

•  Diabetes is controllable by diet alone in over 90% of people. Eat Paleo ( www.thepaleodiet.com ).

•  Use supplements to help with blood sugar until the diet brings it down naturally. We often supplement with Sugatrol, Alpha Lipoic Acid, Cinnamon, Omega 3 fish oil, BodyHealth Complete + Detox, MAP, BodyHealth Intestinal Cleanse. You can obtain these products from us by calling the office 877.804.3258

•  Get an hour of exercise per day. If you can’t do that yet, work up to it gradually.

•  To reduce blood thickness, increase antioxidant levels, lower platelet stickiness, and reduce heavy metals, begin chelation therapy treatment. Many people feel a real improvement within a few treatments. The extra magnesium and B vitamins in the chelation treatments really improve circulation and energy too.

•  If you smoke, stop.

•  Optimize your Vitamin D level to 70-90.
