Are Are Antioxidant Deficiencies Killing You?

For the past 4 months we have been doing a unique test in our office that can test body antioxidant levels by measuring them in the skin. Amazingly, over 90% of our patients are very low in body antioxidants. Nearly all of our staff was deficient also. Antioxidant status ranks with Vitamin D as a major un-looked for cause of chronic illness including cancer, heart disease, diabetes and autoimmune disease. Low antioxidants and Vitamin D are deficiency states that lead to major disease and cause premature mortality. If you are not eating 12 servings a day of fruits and vegetables or are not supplementing with a proven product to improve your levels, you are neglecting your health.

It is well proven that free radicals from our environment and diet cause oxidative stress. The body’s way to combat this is to have on hand enough antioxidants to keep the fire down.

But new research adds another fact to the antioxidant story.

Antioxidants help to prevent cancer by interfering with the growth of cancers already established and may even reverse them once established by interfering with the communication between cancer cells that cause increases in growth and cell division. The communication particles that cancer cells use are free radicals known as superoxides, and they produce them in abundance.

In experiments, when the antioxidant, N aceytyl cysteine was introduced, cell division slowed in cancer cells. This is very significant that antioxidants can have this effect on already existing cancer cells. The study also showed that cancer cells can influence distant cells to become cancerous if free radicals are present and this effect can be blocked by antioxidants as well.

According to the author: Kialobad Irani, “Control of signaling pathways involving oxidants may explain why some antioxidants appear to prevent development of certain cancers.”

Therefore it’s very dangerous to be antioxidant deficient.

We recommend that you come in and get your antioxidant levels checked.

Eating your fruits and vegetables – 12 servings a day or the equivalent in supplements is mandatory.

If you are stressed, lack sleep, take prescription medication, exercise a lot, eat junk food, or work around electric fields your need for antioxidants is increased. So you need even more.

Don’t neglect them, they will keep your health where you want it.
